Northdoor and Disk Storage Systems
Northdoor have implemented server solutions for customers for nearly twenty years. Each of these implementations have had some form of storage, internal and external direct attach solutions, early basic shared SCSI solutions to today’s high performance fibre based storage area networks. For smaller requirements we have implemented direct attached storage solutions for Hendrickson Europe Limited attached to IBM System X servers. For mainstream requirements we have deployed a number of solutions with IBM’s DS4000 range of storage servers, including solutions for Bank of China, and Jeyes Ltd. Northdoor have deployed more complex solutions including advanced features such as enhanced remote mirroring in solutions for many customers including a major Pensions Management company. For high end solutions requiring large multi-terabyte storage systems with hundreds of hosts, Northdoor have supplied and worked with IBM DS8000 based storage, providing solutions for Pasporte Hosting and Ace Insurance. To help customers with the breadth of connectivity options and to provide intelligent backend storage that knows about the applications being deployed we can offer the IBM N-series storage offering providing storage that can be accessed via fibre channel, iSCSI or NAS protocols.
At the top of storage range for customers who have complex multi-vendor storage requirements but need to have simplified connectivity to servers and centralised management, today’s approach is to look at SAN virtualisation. Northdoor have deployed and support virtualisation solutions using IBM’s industry leading SAN Volume Controller product including solutions for Flight Centre Management and RR Donnelly.
