The Challenge

International financial advisor Operis advises and supports an international base of clients throughout long-term infrastructure, industrial and public works projects where there is little room for error. To deliver the continuity of service that its clients demand, Operis cannot afford for business applications to go down.

The Solution

  • Worked with Northdoor to overhaul disaster-recovery practices by deploying Microsoft Azure Site Recovery and Distributed File System
  • Set up automated failover of key systems to the Azure cloud, minimising the potential impact of system failures
  • Grouped shared folders on geographically-dispersed servers into a single file system, keeping employees productive even if local comms or servers fail.

The Benefits

In the event of hardware failure,  all applications running on virtual machines automatically fail over to the cloud, enabling seamless continuity in the delivery of client services. Operis can easily add further systems to the cloud DR environment and can test recovery plans non-disruptively.

The Results

The company has cut its RTO to 15 minutes and its RPO to just 30 seconds.
